West 7th inks deal with Downtown tenant

Accounting firm Weaver and Tidwell will move from its offices in Downtown Fort WorthÂ’s Cash America Building and become the second Downtown company to take up residence at the new West 7th office portion of the sprawling West 7th development.

Weaver and Tidwell LLP signed a 36,000-square-foot lease to occupy the top two floors of the office component at West 7th, the 15-acre mixed-use project on Currie Street at West Seventh Street west of Downtown.

Weaver and Tidwell is scheduled to move in this fall.

“When we made the decision to relocate our office, we wanted to make sure the new space would meet our needs for our growing business,” said Tommy D. Lawler, managing partner/CEO for Weaver and Tidwell, in a release. “The West 7th development not only meets our needs for growth, but also supports an energetic and positive work environment that is consistent with our company goal to provide an environment where our people can succeed. We are looking forward to the West 7th experience and all the great amenities it has to offer our staff and clients.”

West 7th is set to debut 106,000 square feet of office; 345 apartments; and 240,000 square feet of retail and restaurants in October. The apartments will be ready for occupancy this month.

Weaver and Tidwell joins architectural and engineering firm Multatech Engineering Inc., which signed a 10,390-square-foot lease in April. Both tenants will reside in the office portion of West 7th, a four-story building at the corner of Seventh and Foch Streets.

“When searching for our tenant lineup for West 7th, we look for organizations that will help add to the first-class appeal of the development and transform it into a community destination,” said Kirk Williams, vice president of development for Cypress Equities. “Weaver and Tidwell is known to take great pride in its community and definitely fits the bill. We are truly excited to see them join the West 7th team.”

To date, West 7th tenants include Bailey’s Prime Plus Steakhouse, Delaney’s Irish Pub, Terra Mediterranean Grill, Toni & Guy, Avant Garden, LA Fitness, Movie Tavern, Lucky Strike Lanes, Tillman’s Roadhouse, Fireside Pies, Patrizio, Paciugo and Yofé as well as Backwoods (now open) and Sovereign Bank (now open).

Weaver and Tidwell was founded in 1950 by Lloyd J. Weaver and D. Wayne Tidwell and headquartered at 1600 W. Seventh St. in Fort Worth while operating a Dallas office and several offices around the state. The privately-held firm reported revenues of $50 million in 2008 and estimates revenues of $56 million in 2009.

Scott Morse, Greg Hoffman and Scott Jessen with the Colliers Corporate Solutions Group represented Weaver and Tidwell in the lease transaction and Nanci Johnson-Plump and Jerry Bolz with Peloton Real Estate Partners represented the landlord.
