Terry L. Clower has been named the director of the University of North TexasÂ’ Center for Economic Development.

Clower, who had previously been associate director of the center, is replacing Bernard Weinstein, who is retiring, according to a release.

“Terry has been an integral part of the center’s success for 17 years and his acceptance of the director’s position ensures a seamless transition,” said Thomas Evenson, dean of UNT’s college of public affairs and community service, in a statement. “I’m confident Terry will continue the center’s reputation for excellence.”

Clower joined the Center for Economic Development and Research in 1992, and has served as project manager, staff researcher, and statistical analyst on numerous projects since.

“I’m very pleased with this opportunity to continue the Center’s work,” Clower said in a statement. “Working with Bud Weinstein for the past 17 years has been the best experience of my career. For 20-plus years, Bud has provided insightful, sometimes provocative, analysis to economic and public policy decision makers at the local, state, and national levels.”

Clower is an associate professor of applied economics.
