Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council announces new board

The Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council, a 75-member organization governed by a 14-member board of trustees made up of hospital executive officers, announced its board members for 2010.

New board members include Jay Fox, president of Baylor Medical Center of Waxahachie; Rick Merrill, president and CEO of Cook Children’s Health Care System; and Robert Earley, president and CEO of the JPS Health Network.

The chair for 2010 is Steve Newton, president of Baylor All Saints Medical Center of Fort Worth. Past Chair is Kirk King, president of Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital; and Chair-Elect is Sharon Riley, CEO of UT Southwestern University Hospital.

Other members for 2010 are Michael Mayo, president of Methodist Dallas Medical Center; Stan Morton, president of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton; Laura Irvine, president of Methodist Mansfield Medical Center; Doug Welch, CEO of Medical Center of Lewisville; Ernest Lynch III, CEO of Medical Center of McKinney; Dr. John “Jay” Shannon, executive vice president/chief medical officer of Parkland Health & Hospital System; Patrick Wallace, administrator of East Texas Medical Center Athens; and John Haupert, executive vice president/chief operating officer of Parkland Health & Hospital System.

Stylemakers collecting wigs

Stylemakers Salon is collecting new or gently-used wigs for a pre-holiday wig donation drive to benefit local women in cancer treatment for the American Cancer Society’s “Look Good . . . Feel Better” program.

Donors can trade in wigs until Dec. 23 and get a $50 gift certificate toward hair salon services at Stylemakers or a new ready-to-wear wig. Other donor prizes are available, and donations can be made during normal business hours.

Pathology laboratory earns

accreditation

The pathology laboratory at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital H-E-B earned re-accreditation from the College of American Pathologists.

The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program uses multi-disciplinary teams of practicing lab professionals as inspectors to ensure a lab meetings and exceeds requirements for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as well as other national and state regulatory bodies.
