Yorio named UNTHSC provost
His position: Thomas Yorio, executive vice president for Academic Affairs and Research, has been named provost of the University of North Texas Health Science Center. He will serve as chief academic officer for the center and provide overall direction for all academic programs and research.
His background: Since joining the Health Science Center in 1977, Yorio has held several positions including professor of pharmacology and neuroscience, founding dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and interim dean of the School of Public Health.

Doug Renfro, president of Renfro Foods, has been appointed to the board of directors of Berryman Products.

Texas Wesleyan University School of Law has welcomed several new faculty and staff members. They are: Frederic White as dean of the law school, Carla Pratt as a professor of law, Gary Lucas Jr. as an associate professor of law, Vince Cruz Jr. as the director of advocacy programs and Marta Miller as the assistant director of academic support and a legal writing specialist.

Tim Roach, has been named the chief marketing officer at HealthMarkets Inc. Additionally, Lucinda Lewis has joined as senior vice president and chief actuary.

Four Tarrant County College faculty members received the ChancellorÂ’s Award for Exemplary Teaching: from the northeast campus William Matthai, associate professor of biology; from the northwest campus Alicia Lupinacci, professor of marketing and management; from the south campus Shahla Durany, instructor of office administration; and from the southeast campus Katrina Warner, instructor of culinary arts.
Jean Goodwin-Grisham, director of program development for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Arlington, was named Professional of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of AmericaÂ’s Southwest Region.
Sandra Sedillo-McGlothlin, founder of Empire Roofing Ltd. and Empire Disposal Ltd., has received the Latina Entrepreneur Legend Award from the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce.
Richard Watters, an associate and mechanical engineer with Baird, Hampton & Brown, has been named a 40 Under 40 by Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine.
