Beacon Energy reduces headcount at Cleburne biodiesel plant
Beacon Energy Holdings Inc., citing lower biodiesel demand, said Jan. 7 it has reduced its work force at its Cleburne plant by 30 percent. The Cranford, N.J.-based biodiesel producer and marketer, did not say how many workers it released.
According to a press release, the reduction in work force was “was taken in an effort to reduce expenses and to more closely match production capacity with current biodiesel sales demand.”
The release also said the company has temporarily cut back its production at the Texas Facility as it works through its on-hand inventory of biodiesel, but that the facility “continues to make sales in the ordinary course to its existing customer base and to initiate new sales efforts with potential customers.”
According to the companyÂ’s Web site, the Cleburne plan is the only certified BQ-9000 producer in the North Texas area and one of only 29 producers in the U.S.
