Entech Solar moves to Fort Worth

New Jersey-based WorldWater & Solar Technologies Corp. is the latest alternative energy company to set up shop in the Metroplex after a 1,500-mile move southwest with a new name: Entech Solar Inc.

The solar energy systems company changed its name to reflect a recent acquisition, and its new Fort Worth headquarters is home to EntechÂ’s 70,000-square-foot, 200MW-capacity manufacturing facility, according to a Jan. 12 press release.

“Entech Solar is a name that more accurately reflects the transformation of our business since our acquisition of ENTECH in January 2008,” said CEO Frank Smith in a statement. “Today, we are a concentrating solar technology company focused on providing our advanced, cost-competitive modules to commercial and industrial customers. Entech’s core strategy will be on manufacturing and selling the company’s breakthrough ThermaVolt product, a combined photovoltaic and thermal concentrating solar system.”

In addition to the name change, David Gelbaum was appointed as chairman of the board of directors to replace company founder Quentin Kelly, who resigned Jan. 7. Kelly founded the company in 1984. Two other board members resigned and were replaced accordingly, according to a separate press release, to reflect Entech SolarÂ’s new direction.
