Denise Ford to receive leadership award
Her honor: Denise Ford, a Fort Worth resident and doctoral student in TWUs College of Professional Education, will receive a scholarship given by Texas Womans University at the seventh annual Virginia Chandler Dykes Leadership Award luncheon.
Her background: She is pursuing a Ph.D. in reading education and literacy and plans to graduate in May. A native of St. Croix, U. S. Virgin Islands, Ford has taught English as a Second Language and Spanish in Texas public schools for more than 12 years. Ford received her masters degree in education in teaching in 1999, a bachelors degree in Spanish in 1996 and a bachelors degree in Business Administration in 1988 all from the University of Texas at Arlington. Currently she oversees the ESL program at the high school level and provides information, resources, and guidance to principals, faculty, and other district personnel on all matters relating to ESL.
She is also a major in the U.S. Army Reserve
